The UoN and the West Ukrainian National University entered into a collaborative agreement to foster the development of a broader exchange of knowledge, skills and experience in all aspects of the curriculum and support services including administration and management structures. The partnership was necessitated by the need to combine scientific efforts to train highly qualified specialists who will be instrumental in building the respective countries’ future.

While giving his remarks during the ceremony, the UoN VC, Prof Stephen Kiama thanked the delegation for ensuring that previously held discussions bore fruits. “The University of Nairobi commits to be a strategic partner that will aim to provide the Ukrainian students with opportunities to engage and interact with the Kenyan culture; which will be a step towards embracing integration and diversity.”

In his speech, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya congratulated both universities on the joint partnership and hoped that it will be a key driver to educational development for students from both countries. “The joint partnership is a chance to have Practical Corporation for both students and staff. I hope that the students from Ukraine will have practical knowledge and significant impact to Kenya.” He said

The agreement will ensure that both parties focus their efforts on this partnership on development of the broad estrange in exchange of knowledge, skills and experience in all branches of the curriculum and support services including administration and management structures.

Rector, Prof. Andriy Krysovatyy from the West Ukrainian National University expressed his gratitude to the UoN VC, Prof Stephen Kiama saying, “I am looking forward to strengthening the partnership and help our students to engage in the best education we can offer”.

Both parties undertake to routinely monitor and review mutual working programs and projects every two years, in line with their overall aims, outcomes, and outputs and to update or revise these if required by necessary action plan.

Also in attendance were Volodymyr Trush, Head of the Ternopil Regional Administration, Prof Mykhalio Golovko, Head of the Ternopil Regional Council, Prof Oksana Desyatnyuk, Vice Rector of international Activity, Prof Iryna Ivashchuk, Director of Bohdan Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations, Prof Natalia Kravchuk, Director of Bohdan Havrylyshyn Education and Research Institute of International Relations and John Orindi, Director Corporate Affairs University of Nairobi.
